About Me

My photo
I live on the ocean, write women's fiction, love to read so much that it's an addiction rather than a hobby (I read an average of a book a day). I live on the wet west coast so it's a good thing that I like to walk in the rain.

Vampires, anyone?

Okay, I admit it. I'm a huge fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer - although I didn't start watching it on TV until Season 5, somewhere around 2001.

I own the whole seven seasons on DVD and I watch them all the way through once a year. I'm at the end of Season 3 of Buffy as all the new TV series begin - and I'm noticing a trend. Vampires. And that trend isn't just on TV, of course, there's a movie trend and a huge book trend as well.

But I'm not watching True Blood or The Vampire Diaries. I'm not going to the movies, either, though this isn't because I wouldn't enjoy them, but because I don't think anybody can write as well as Joss Whedon and I don't want to be disappointed.

And just to date myself - I can still remember watching Dark Shadows as a teenager. I was working the night shift and coming home, sleeping for the morning and waking up just in time to watch Barnabas and Quentin and their pals. I loved that show. I'm not sure I could watch it again - it's probably pretty dated, but I don't want to spoil my memories of it, either.

Who are your favourite vampires?

hi kate

i was just browsing people's blog and stumbled upon yours.
and then i was reading your profile and found out that you are an avid reader. you read an average a book per day and i was like WOW.

i had job interview a while back but was rejected citing the reason that i was not intellectual enough and had bad communication skills. It makes me wondering if all these years of my life i have been either ignorant and lack the habit of reading. I hardly read any books all my life (less than 10 maybe).my sister on the other hand loves to read and have a far better command of language than me.

Is it too late to start reading ? is it true that reading makes you more intellectual and improve your language ability ? how have you been cultivating your reading habits ? since you are a lil kid ? what type of materials (articles, novels, etc )do you usually or enjoy reading ?

I love buffy! I watched it from the beginning and you're right, nothing compares. When she has to send Angel to hell...man! Talk about the ultimate cry!

My favorite Vampire was the original Barnabus Collin (Jonathon Frid) I felt when they attempted to ressurect Dark Shadow it is a mere shadow of the original. I saw at WalMart a copy of the original but since I am on unemployment couldn't afford it.
