I was watching Charlie Rose tonight interviewng Sir Ian McKeller - Gandalf, King Lear, the X-Men - and as Charlie signed off, he asked Sir Ian about happiness in his personal life. He said, "I have good friends and occasional lovers, and that'll do" and though that's not perfect, it may be as much as he - or any of us, single and later in life - can expect. Or want.
