About Me

My photo
I live on the ocean, write women's fiction, love to read so much that it's an addiction rather than a hobby (I read an average of a book a day). I live on the wet west coast so it's a good thing that I like to walk in the rain.

Stephen King is a genius - and my hero

I've just finished Duma Key this morning - and I'll review it later - but I found these lines that I want to share with you. Whether you're a writer or a painter or a cook or a homemaker, it's all about art:

Be prepared to see it all. If you want to create -- God help you if you do, God help you if yuo can -- don't you dare commit the immorality of stopping on the surface. Go deep and take your fair salvage. Do it no matter how much it hurts.

Wow. This is what it means to be an artist of any kind. Sometimes it hurts to get the truth on the canvas, on the page, on the plate -

This is what Stephen King does every time he writes a book or a story.

Mr. King, you're the man.

Kate
